Welcome to Positively Pooka a new blog series where we spotlight people and projects that are having a positive impact on our communities.
Today we are discussing a plant shop right in our own backyard of New Jersey. We came across this tweet from one of the co-founders of deVINE Plantery.
I’m the co-founder of a black women-owned plant shop based in Montclair, NJ. We’re in the process of opening one of the few brick & mortar black-owned plant shops in the country! One like/RT puts us that much closer to our dreams💕🌿 ig: devine.plantery pic.twitter.com/muzsytKzGO

Based out of Montclair, NJ and started by two childhood best friends who have a deep love for the beauty and serenity that comes from caring for plants. Their mission is to turn plant-care into a lifestyle.
They started as an exclusively online business in Spring 2020 in the height of the COVID-19 lockdown when they realized people needed more greenery in their lives. Fast-forward to September 2020, deVINE Plantery joined an all women-owned shared co-op space, Maplewood Mercantile in Maplewood NJ.
But now its time for them to open up their very own retail location in Montclair and they need your help. When this opens they will be one of the few fully black-woman owned retail plants stores in New Jersey, and on the east coast!
Check out their crowdfunding campaign and help them to continue their service and inspire the local plant family who are from all walks of life.
